Im walking 62 Miles in October to raise funds for Dementia UK. I have a very close family member aged just 62 who was diagnosed with Dementia a year ago. She will accompany me on some of the walks, helping to trigger positive memories. https://t.co/vMY5RNCp7W Thank you!

I will of course continue to support the club in whatever way is considered most useful, watch as many senior and junior games as possible and support the strong programme of community events.

During that long 21 years period in the clubs history, we have all enjoyed so many highlights on and off the field and I feel the club is in great shape to navigate the ongoing challenges and opportunities before it. The new Chair will have a great committee to support them.

I really appreciate the kind words that have been said about my tenure as Chair, which has been one of the proudest and most rewarding roles that I have held.

My reasons for not seeking re-election remain as explained previously. After 21 years as Chair of a club I love, it is time for a change as we look towards our next 100 years. Every organisation deserves different perspectives, so that is something we can all look forward to.

As I advised members at last years AGM, it was my intention to not stand for re-election as Chair this year. As we approach that meeting, I wanted to reconfirm that position such that the focus at that meeting in a few weeks will be on who has been appointed as my successor.

Members can be assured that up to and including my last official duties on the night of the AGM, I will continue to serve the club as I always have, with pride and 100% commitment. Up the Squirrels πΏοΈ Gary Gary Speakman, Chair, HCC

I treasure my Honorary Life Membership and also the new Cricket Scoring facilities bearing my name, a facility for which we worked so hard to get funded and built in 2024, our memorable centenary year.

The requisite notices for our AGM on October 27th have now been served. The AGM will as usual consider reports from the committee and elect for the next year, all those responsible for the management of the club including the Chair, senior captains and a President.

So important that we get this message across, in whatever way we can. Well done @WiganWarriorsRL in sharing this.

A great reminder of how @LaticsOfficial engages really well with the community. Well done for selecting Wigan band @TheLilacsUk to lead this kit launch accompanied by an interview with Sam explaining his fight against testicular cancer. Sam will smash it of course π π
πΈ Hear from The Lilacsβ Guitarist and lifelong Latics fan, Sam Birchall, who discusses being involved in our Third Kit launch and his current battle with testicular cancer. π #wafc π£β«οΈ

This is an overwhelming honour. One of the most rewarding roles I have held across my community facing portfolio. But still much to do to improve opportunities for the young people of Wigan. @WiganCouncil @WiganYouthZone @Highfield_CC @WigToday @deaneryhigh @theoldcourts

What great news, a true sporting hero and a thoroughly nice man. It was fabulous that he was able to meet up with some of his ex @Highfield_CC teammates last year as part of the clubs centenary celebrations. Congratulations Sir Billy π
Highfield Cricket Club joins the sporting world in congratulating Billy on his well deserved recognition. Billy played for our club as a fearsome fast bowler whilst still in his prime at Wigan RLFC, a remarkable combination of professional and amateur sport across two codes.

If ever there was evidence that Wiganers are unique. @Shaun_waney as discussed π
Fascinated to see that on this 'dialect map', much of which is divided into regions, my home town of #Wigan has one all of its own.
