Congrats!!!.
I got to see @breadascientist hooded by someone that looks like us and it was very special. Black women PhDs may be few in numbers, but the impact we have on each other and the world is unmatched. Welcome to the 2%, Dr. Manuel 💙 . #PhinisheDAt26 #FullBy40

This makes me happy on many levels. I have very fond memories of Prof. Valenta as an undergrad at UNB. About twenty years before I was there, my mother did an internship in his lab. Having my PhD advisor named as the inaugural lecturer is just lovely.
So excited. Thanks for inviting me. Pic by the great photographer and Order of Canada recipient V. Tony Hauser.
