Allotment nearly all put to bed for the winter under a blanket of cover crops; ryegrass, trefoil & various clovers that grow all winter mopping up soluble nutrients, preventing erosion, helping wildlife, smothering weeds & improving soil. #covercrop #allotment

There has been weeding, lawns have been mown. Paused for a cold drink and thinking what I might put off doing today until tomorrow….. #gardening #GardeningTwitter #GardeningX #mygarden

Good morning Twitter (or X!). I hate this X! My experience here is nothing like it was. I am set up on Instagram and enjoying life there lots. So I'll keep this account but dip in but less often and hope to stay connected with friends here who have not yet fled....

It never fails to amaze me how resilient and determined some plants are to survive and thrive. These gorgeous poppies have sprung up on the unadopted gravel track that leads to the house and will now hopefully self-seed. Happy days #GardeningTwitter #wildflower #poppies

Some days you can just feel the garden growing, some of it’s visible, from flowers opening to leaves unfurling, other times it’s an unknown communication with our senses

I can’t shout enough about how we can all be doing more to help grow and maintain wild natural habitats. Gardens, communities, towns and cities all need to do their part to keep and grow green spaces. #rewilding #greenspaces #naturalhabitats
Only 3% of our wildflower meadows are left - bad news for bees and butterflies. RT if you think we should give pollinating insects a fighting chance by growing wildflowers in our gardens, communities, towns and countryside, and by avoiding pesticides and weedkillers 🐝

Something for the weekend? How about going to visit the #FloralFantasia at @RHSHydeHall ? It’s full of colour right now, here’s a selection. Plus, you can view @the_rhs Annual Salvia trial too! 🌟 Let me know what your plans are….?

Agapanthus are enjoying a resurgence in popularity. One of my favourites is the very hardy and diminutive ‘Tom Thumb’, here growing under Buddleia ‘Nanho Purple’ #fairviewyearround #day208
