Looking at some recent definitions of intelligence, and how calling Ai "pattern recognition" probably isn't the best metaphor for what Ai does: Pattern Recognition is Something That Intelligent Entities Do, But Ai Doesn't Really Do Pattern Recognition

Court Rulings and What Kind of Critiques Count in the Ai Debate: I dive into some of the gleeful reactions to recent pro-Ai Company rulings, as well as some concerning claims that Ai pushback is too "emotional." https://t.co/haXc2bWoDw

Is Ai Improving Education? Is Everyone Using It? Is It Getting Better for the Environment? Is It Getting Better at Responding to Questions?

I decided to update the "Can I Use Ai on This Assignment" / "Student Ai Integration" chart to a "How Dangerous is Ai for This Assignment?" chart:

The next post in my series looking at responses to Ai criticism looks at how ChatGPT responded to one of my posts: Why Do Ai Cheerleaders Respond to Critics the Way They Do? (Part 3)

Some people want AGi (a higher form of Ai than what we currently have that is basically the same as human intelligence) to happen so bad that they see it everywhere.

"ChatGPT Can Ace an Entire Master’s Level Course? So What?" We need to be concerned with how people are lionizing Ai and undervaluing what learning really is:

"Course Design Should Cost About Zero"? What on Earth are George Siemens and Stephen Downes Thinking?

This statement was linked to an ai driven course design idea called OELM, which itself misunderstands course design. But of course, ai is never “zero cost,” and OELM does not propose a zero cost solution anyways. So weird.

Saying that “course design costs should be zero” is a direct insult to the entire field of instructional design, as well as a massive misunderstanding of what course design should entail. Formulating a response….

More examples of Democrats descending into inaccurate right wing talking points. Few Democrats said these three words, and that was a problem. Not the opposite. Also, learn the complexities of biology and social constructs. Trans women are women.
Alright Democrats, time for some tough love. I have been hesitant to post this but I think it has to be said. There are three toxic words that cost us the election. Three words that made for bad policy and bad politics. Those words are: Transwomen are Women

(Thank you to the homeschoolers that don’t act like this. You are a dying breed.)

Xitter continues to prove that certain types hate divorced people even when they can’t refute the actual content of the advice. Bonus points for another homeschooler thinking they know more than anyone different than themselves.
You can take relationship and marriage advice from me, a happily married mother of six, or James, a divorced man. Your choice.

Denying healthcare coverage is also assassination and some people are too concerned about reactions to the assassination of the one guy at the top and not all of the ones his healthcare coverage company caused under his leadership.

Those of us that watched this show saw plenty of people outraged at it. They even made one of their best episodes about that outrage and the toxic fans that existed even back then.

I just wish people would learn that vaccines have always been and continue to be more complex than simplistic narratives about “they don’t prevent infection”/“they do prevent infection.”
Long COVID is now widely acknowledged by mainstream media as the primary danger of COVID in 2024. Pfizer runs vaccine ads on FM radio saying “Every COVID infection increased risk of Long COVID” without mentioning that vaccines don’t prevent infections.
