Was lucky to get a tour of USS Ohio over 10 years ago. A capability (150 TLAM + Mk 48 torpedoes) that will be sorely missed when they retire.
This is USS Ohio’s first visit to Brisbane and the first visit of a vessel of its class. These two U.S. Navy vessels are visiting Australia to engage with our long-standing ally and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the Indo-Pacific region. 🔗

The 🇹🇭🇰🇭 clashes are obviously localised in their origins and immediate impact. Still, it’s striking how the axis of armed conflict is moving steadily across the Rimlands, from Black Sea to Mediterranean, to Red-Sea, Gulf, South Asia and now deep within SE Asia.
Fighting on the Thailand-Cambodia border entered a third day as hundreds of Cambodians fled and Malaysia called for an immediate ceasefire

Important point. Joint training means that learning is always a two-way street.
🇦🇺🤝🇵🇭 . Australian and Philippine sappers joined forces in 📍 Mindanao, Philippines. While the sappers from 1st Combat Engineer Regiment taught things such as building field obstacles, explosive breaching and search techniques, their Philippine counterparts taught the

Learned today that HMS Richmond was part of the last 🇬🇧 carrier visit to 🇦🇺in 1997, 28 years ago. A long time between drinks.

This is more interchangeabilty than interoperability. A bit soulless, tbh, but advantageous to both allies.

It’s not all about the tech @jcmgurkha.

Interesting use of “allies”. I think 🇬🇧 and 🇦🇺 have been customary allies since AUKUS, but new treaties are pushing it closer to formal status. The test, as always, will be whether an Australian minister can utter the A-word.
Allies in defence, but rivals in rugby 🇬🇧🇦🇺. From joint combat training to working side-by-side at sea, the Armed Forces of the UK and Australia team up to keep both our countries safe. As we face the infamous #Wallabies today, we wish good luck to our #Lions 🏉
