Talking to @dr_draik yesterday and he dropped this: "Turns out seniority in development just means you have grown to understand running projects requires communication and structure." Truth. (He may have followed that with "URGH!" π

Update: nothing has been done by @CityofCT to make safe options for school kids to get to school. Please @geordinhl send a team to clear the underpasses so kids can cross safely. Please
With School starting next week, went to check out all the underpasses that allow kids from the 7 schools in the area to safely cross the 5 lanes of traffic in Rondebosch. 1/4 are not blocked. Have logged numerous requests. @geordinhl this can be sorted with one call I am sure.

The year is 2022. Lockdown has almost reached level 2. But I'll still be waiting for @Vitality_SA to complete the activation of my shoe booster, despite them taking my money, and it clearing from my @Discovery_SA (!) Bank account more than 2 days ago.... π

A rare town-side start for #fridayTrailzzz this week, and it didn't disappoint. Along the Pipe Track to my favourite way up the mountain, Corridor Ravine. A brief foray into Tranquility Cracks (where https://t.co/0TZHQ8WOX2β¦

Lastly, a funny story: I sat in a meeting today, and had to introduce myself. Me: "Hi, I'm Graeme Smith" <pause for cricket joke> Lady across the table: "Hey! You're the guy from Twitter about his wife!" π Makes a change, I suppose π /end

I'm far from an authority on advocacy, but if I can say one thing to men about what I've learned it's this: Just say "I get it, I see it." Acknowledging the crap stuff should be baseline, but it makes a really good start. And you have to start somewhere. 5/

What has been really interesting is the number of thanks I've gotten. This is ridiculous to me. All I did was put down in writing something that had occurred to me but, in doing so, it would seem that that has given women something to show men and say "look, read this". 4/

But on the other hand, reading the responses has been sobering. Literally hundreds of women saying "this", "this is my life", "you get it". If anything, I've learned more from the last few days from those responses than anything else. It's been truly eye opening... 3/

On one hand, I'm so glad that the simple words I managed to write somehow resonated with so many people, and hopefully brought some truths and perspectives home to some men who hadn't seen things this way... 2/

"So you've written a viral tweet" πAt last count, the thread had over 16500 retweets, and over 26k likes. Normally that'd be a great feeling of achievement, a proper dopamine rush, but this feels weird. 1/

It's been an eye-opening & surreal 24 hours. I don't think that either @graeme0811 nor I ever expected to be the initiators of a viral Twitter thread π. But I'm so grateful for the engagement, positive feedback & open conversation, thank you all.
