Finland deplores yesterday's incident against UNIFIL peacekeepers. UNIFIL is fulfilling its mandate in the region in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The UN should never be a target. We call on all parties to refrain from any violent acts.

A UN peacekeeper was injured on Friday after Israeli machine gunfire impacted close to a @UNIFIL_ patrol in Lebanon. UNIFIL also reports recent movement restrictions by local individuals. Any action endangering peacekeepers is unacceptable. https://t.co/MhJuIOykwc

End of 2026 #UN regular budget journey? As 2025 closes, so does this stage of the UN budget drama. It seems there's “agreement” on the 2026 UN budget. Check out 30 DEC meeting of C5 & then #UNGA plenary for official adoption. More UN re-shaping next year. https://t.co/i1cy817RdB

For those who have experienced the light-less #UNHQ basement, a leap of imagination is still needed to take in these budget battles and possible impact on the future of the UN.

"Many other examples show how investing in #development pays, how the work of so many in government, civil society, women’s organisations, youth movements & the private sector are making a concrete difference… How do we expand & speed up progress? The answer lies in the #SDGs."

🇰🇪 “If the #UN is to remain relevant in this Century, it must reflect today’s realities, not the post-war power arrangements of 1945... The 80th anniversary of the United Nations must be more than a commemoration; it must be a turning point for the Organisation.”
