So my friend got grounded and couldn't hit up WhatsApp or social media. That's kinda how I ended up building Bell Jar, my realtime chat server. Started it last summer used basic html/css/js, but got bored then totally redid it this summer with React+TailwindCSS. #webdevelopment

Today is exactly 3 years since the first release of JekyllEx. Just a few hours ago I released the fully re-worked version. Bundled with the ruby ecosystem, gh-pages environment, git, etc. Feature rich. It has got to where I aimed it to be! Learn more:

Changed the whole infrastructure at least thrice. Tested too hard. But happy with the results. Adhering to https://t.co/LcqGRlt1b7 was the best choice I ignored earlier.

The biggest problem was bootstrap size. Including compiler toolchains to build native gems on device made the bootstrap content shot up to 400+ mb. Easy for me but inconvenient for users. Actual app size would go up 2gb+ post install. Fix: pre-compile and alter bundled gems

~3 years. 1000+ hours. 400+ builds later. finally. bootstrapped android native ruby interpreter with github-pages bundled gems! ruby-android v0.1.0: https://t.co/RZVaNL0w4M onto embedding in the JekyllEx app next. real open source takes effort.

v0.1.0: Initial release Bundled software: git: 2.45.2 ruby: 3.3.2 coreutils: 9.5 Libraries: libxslt: 1.1.40 libxml2: 2.13.1 ...and dependencies Bundled gem versions: jekyll: ...
Almost 10 months after the initial idea of having native ruby binaries for Android, so that https://t.co/dkedjEITN3 can run natively on Android (through my app https://t.co/sXuKSOIzsV), I am so much happy to see it coming to reality 🤩 1/2

Looking forward to building in public more often. This month I’m working on getting https://t.co/ChxNUhtVPF’s new version live. I have got the native ruby binaries working but the whole app needs rebuild. What are you working on?

I had been looking to revamp my internet presence and couple relevant things together for a while now. High school’s over; got some time at hand; what could have been a better way to start building a consolidated personal brand! Result?
