The reason for this is the psychological trauma they experienced after fighting their friends, killing humans, and even eating each other. All of these events left a deep impression on them. They were seeking freedom, but they thought that the way to it was to carry out orders.
I don't know if I'm going crazy or what, but I see it as a perfect representation of everything our squad lost on the way to becoming Disassembly Drones. J lost her autonomy, turning into a total puppet and just an informant taking orders from Cyn. V lost her core (+)
