At re:Invent, amid many hours of technical talks, a few enduring lessons remain. Jim Gray argued that systems should be designed around the questions they must answer. Recent MIT research shows this is still where many systems, and now AI systems, fail. #reinvent #AWS

Everyone’s hyped about code maps now, love it. We built Augoor around this and other ideas more than two years ago. Now all integrated into #GlobantEnterpriseAI and #Coda. https://t.co/xUaNcSP1mV Agents + humans need code maps to navigate big codebases. https://t.co/EVrGMuFcN1

As an engineer, you spend a lot more time reading and understanding code than you do writing code. But codebases aren't necessarily optimized for this; scrolling through a ton of CRUD functions tells you a lot less about what a file does than a clear explanation of why the code

So, what happens to juniors now? They have an incredible opportunity ahead, to embrace new way of programming, to master the key concepts of AI engineering, and to use their freshness and speed to become “senior” faster than many who just think they are.

Being a junior has always meant being new at something. Once it was Assembler, then COBOL, then Java. Tomorrow it’ll be something else, and that’s perfectly fine. The “junior” role shifts as technology does.

In this transition era, the real challenge is for seniors to embrace being beginners once more. We’re all juniors at something new now , it’s less about coding lines and more about orchestrating real-world solutions.

I often get asked, “What’s going to happen to juniors in the age of AI?” Honestly, I’m more curious about what happens to seniors who’ve forgotten how to put on a white belt again.

For those future systems, we rely on GeneXus and new ways of building software, explainable, agentic, and future-ready. This is not an update. It’s a new foundation. The end of the beginning, again.

Humans capturing knowledge into a collective intelligence of people, agents, and robotics , that’s the real future of system development. Not more forms. Not more screens. But smarter, human-centered interactions.

The future of mission-critical systems can’t be “vibe-coded.” They must be imagined, and humans remain at the center of that imagination.

With GeneXus Next you can: ✅ Generate MCP servers and A2A agents ✅ Build RAGs where vectors live close to structures ✅ Extend BPM with agentic tasks ✅ Expose agents through chat controls and embed them anywhere

Now, GeneXus introduces the concept of Agent into its model. Defining and orchestrating agents becomes simple and intuitive, no unnecessary jargon, no artificial complexity.

We never built GeneXus just to be a beautiful piece of engineering. We built it to help people create the systems of the future.

But this is not just engineering. It’s a mindset shift. We’re entering the era of Agentic Low-Code, combining Generative AI with model-based development to design, supervise, and understand what we build.
