Cosmetic chemist here to say this is a super common misconception. Traditional soaps can be drying and irritating, whereas ‘liquid soaps’ or syndets are more gentle while still cleansing effectively. Their structural composition and function are very similar

Retinal or retinaldehyde (with an a!) is different from retinol & Tretinoin because it has that additional aldehyde group, which has an antibacterial benefit against acne causing bacteria.

A skincare product CAN in fact be fun to use (smell nice, have a fun texture) and be effective. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. Clinical packaging and ‘fragrance-free’ labeling don’t inherently make a product better.

I don’t see anyone in celeb skincare doing anything innovative, which is ironic considering so many of them could get the capital and investment to do some fun stuff with skincare
I don’t think celebrity skincare is necessarily 100% bad. But it’s normally pretty generic and not innovative…and boring.
Starter pack: Foaming cleanser, a vitamin c serum, a hyaluronic acid serum and a moisturizer. Probably niacinamide too.

No. Wearing makeup itself isn’t what makes you break out. Makeup isn’t bad for your skin. Makeup doesn’t ‘prevent your skin from breathing’ (because what does that even mean). Y’all just might not know how to wash well 👀

This is a generalization that applies to a FEW body creams and isn’t the case for all, although for oily, acne-prone skin is something to consider. When you find a body cream that works for both face AND body though? A godsend. You get so much product for a decent price
Do not apply body cream on your face as a moisturizer.
Reason is : Body creams contain rich and thick and highly comedogenic ingredients which will easily clog the pores of the facial skin and this will lead to breakouts and uneven skin textures.

I’ve developed, formulated AND tested SPFs, and a common misconception is you only need a lil bit of sunscreen. You ACTUALLY need a specific amount per area of exposed skin to achieve advertised SPF! The 2 finger ✌🏽 rule is a good guide for the face. Alicia is correct here ❤️
