#Onthisday in 1902 the coronation was planned for Edward VII. See museum artefacts from that day below! 2 days before the ceremony, he was diagnosed with appendicitis & needed surgery, so the ceremony was postponed until August. Edward was the 1st Col-in-Chief of The Gordons.

#OnThisDay 80 years ago, the #DDayLandings on the beaches of #Normandy took place. By the end of the day & at a great cost the Allies had established a foothold along the coast and could begin their long-awaited return to France after the Allied evacuation from Dunkirk in 1940.
