GFSC are a collective imagining hopeful post-billionaire technology and finding scraps of pleasure in a crumbled social order. Read about our new plans and support our tentative (but necessary) optimism in an update from our founder. https://t.co/52pMEkXJMO

the first time they did this 80% voted against it iirc and they did it anyway so it's a bit futile but i think good to be counted

A hillariously leading and unscientific survey (seriously who designed this?) but a chance to say no to more cops and money for cops. I used the space to suggest the percept goes to libraries and social care instead.

GMP have 8,076 police officers but more are required to meet the levels we had a decade ago Are you willing to pay more to keep our communities safe and retain investment in neighbourhood policing? 🗣️Take a minute to share your views on Police funding: https://t.co/ttZyO0N1zM

Lack of good accessibility statements makes community action hard to coordinate, as in most cases venue accessibility is in the hands of mega-landlords like Bruntwood. Join us on the GFSC discord tomorrow at 8pm and help us make a video!

Reactions to our recent report showed a lack of understanding around what access statements are for and what they should contain. In our view they shouldn’t be a set of warnings about things venues don’t have, but rather a clear invitation to join in!

Tomorrow (12/12@8pm) @oluoluoxenfree and @kimadactl are hosting a new GFSC Discord social: Content Club! We’re going to design and make a video about creating an accessibility statement, based on our Trans Dimension Guide to Accessible Events.

We welcome financial donations to continue the work we do at GFSC on projects like the Trans Organisers Fund https://t.co/tJElQc1ymO. We also welcome conversations with any funders who want to help us continue this work, as our source of funding for this work no longer exists.

We think much more could be done by landlords and the wider VCSE sector to provide this much-needed space to some of the most marginalised. Read the full report here:

There’s a lot in there but the single clearest theme we heard from almost everyone about was event and venue accessibility. GM now has almost no trans-friendly, accessible and affordable spaces, with the few there are in constant threat of closure or gentrification

The fund’s goal was to work to support organisers to work out how we can do this work sustainably in ways that value people’s time and result in long lasting community infrastructure and care networks.

The goal of the fund was to facilitate trans healing and justice work in GM. We feel that being a trans organiser is extremely stressful, underfunded + high stakes, with almost no material support for the people doing work on the ground to ensure a better future for trans people.

We’ve just published out report of what we did, what we spent it on, and what we think grassroots groups, funders and landlords could do to make the world a more just place for trans and disabled people. We’ll be sharing some more thoughts over the week. https://t.co/Ra41ZOiI2c

The Trans Organisers Fund was a one-off pilot fund for trans organisers in Greater Manchester. The fund was administered by Geeks for Social Change and financially backed by Lankelly Chase, with a steering group consisting of Greater Manchester-based trans organisers.
