Open banking is highly regulated by Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Payment Services Directive 2. Companies must acquire a financial licence and meet strict criteria to use open banking. OB creates an opportunity for innovation and better quality financial services.

Open banking is a process where banks and other financial institutions allow third-party companies to access consumer banking data with the users’ consent. This data is then used to build financial services products.
