4 days and 4 planes later our small but mighty crew is home in Toronto/Ottawa. Offline for a bit to catch up with life.

Thanks to the staff at Eureka Weather Station for keeping our science going and for letting us take part in theirs. There really is no better place to run a campaign from my perspective. We’ll be back.

All packed up for the sealift south this summer. A lot went into this campaign and we are spent. Sad to be leaving but looking forward to the journey ahead.

Pack of 3 wolves on station sniffing around. They were interested in our gear again.

I guess the rest of the pack is curious about what we are doing way out on the ice.

Installed our ice mass balance buoy on the second year ice today. This will give us a view on what happens when we leave and the melt begins.

Been station bound the last two days with high winds (60 km/h) and low visibility. 🤞for better conditions tomorrow

As with all fieldwork, failures are part of the process. After finally getting our drones airborne (this involved many hot packs and elastics), the LiDAR navigation sub-system refused to work and we struck out on data. Back to base to regroup and hope for some warmer weather.

We are a week into our campaign today and will be switching gears to work with our LiDAR drone. The manufacturer says it’s -40 rated and it looks like we will be testing that 🥶

I tried to call CAA but they don’t take collect calls from a sat phone apparently. Had to settle for a long tow rope ride instead.

We still have a few pieces left if we need to make it bigger.
