Today’s feast celebrates Saint John the Evangelist in all his facets: Galilean fisherman turned fisher of men; Apostle to Our Lord alongside his brother James; beloved disciple, entrusted with the care of Christ’s mother at the foot of the cross; author of the Gospel of John.

Today we celebrate St Stephen, the first Christian martyr, who asked God to forgive his murderers as he was stoned to death, echoing Christ's petition for the Father to forgive those who crucified Him. O Lord, help us to seek forgiveness for one another.

At the heart of Christmas is a gift freely given. In the birth of Jesus, God draws near to human life, not in power or display, but in humility and trust. May this gift bring comfort and hope.

The collects for the Fourth Sunday of Advent are clothed in God’s reassurance: We were never meant to run the race before us on our own, without His mercy and guidance. Through Your bountiful grace, we are delivered from darkness, O Lord.

Ahead of the eight days of Hanukkah beginning Sunday, we extend greetings to our beloved Jewish neighbours: May you feel the light and warmth of God’s miracles at work in your midst – those from long ago and those in our own time now. Hanukkah Sameach!

In both the Book of Alternative Services and Book of Common Prayer, the collects for the First Sunday of Advent are prayed throughout the season, as we join the prophets of the Old Testament in waiting for the Word made flesh to dwell among us. https://t.co/dXRsmKJfiV

The Last Sunday after Pentecost, also called the Sunday Next before Advent, is the final Sunday in the church calendar. In these last days of the liturgical year, let us give thanks for Christ’s reign as King of Heaven, under whose gentle and loving rule we are brought together.

On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, we pause in lament + prayer. We pray for those who have lost their lives to violence + for all who live in fear or under threat, that they may know God’s protection + peace. As we remember, let us follow Christ faithfully in action. #TDoR

Today we lift up our prayers to the God who sits alongside us at our darkest hour; who frees us from the bonds of sin and death; whose love is the light that can never be extinguished.

As we mark Indigenous Veterans Day (Nov. 8), Remembrance Sunday (Nov. 9) and Remembrance Day (Nov. 11), we give thanks for the courage of those who have served and remember those who died in war. May our remembrance deepen our commitment to peace in our time.

A conversation at Sacred Circle this summer, between a survivor and the Primate, planted the seed for a Church-wide vision. Each parish displaying a Survivors’ flag carries that conversation forward. https://t.co/WnwkyquP6G
