The state of Israel gains political leverage, legitimisation & money by selling gas to Europe. Europe is totally capable of managing without the relatively tiny amount of Israeli gas it imports, and can use it as leverage to pressure for a ceasefire.

The total amount of Egyptian and Israeli gas sent to Europe since Oct 7th 2023 is 0.6 bcm - an insignificant amount if you look at the EU gas consumption of 295 bcm in 2023. There is no excuse for Europe to shy away from banning imports of Israeli gas

After a halt in Oct 2023, Israel resumed its gas exports to Egypt in Nov 2023 Currently, European terminals receiving ships from Egypt cannot know for a fact whether the gas is from Israel, Egypt, a mix It's safe to assume that LNG ships will at least partly contain Israeli gas

In 2022, the EU signed a deal with Israel and Egypt to buy Israeli gas for European consumption. Israeli gas is extracted offshore Israel and sent via pipeline to Egypt. It is liquified at Egyptian terminals and sent on LNG ships for export.
