Neil Warnock ahead of his 1500th game as a manager: "The sooner we get fans back the better. I'd like to get booed at least one more time before I retire."
Spectacular bit of goalkeeping from the Ethiopian Premier League that somehow doesn't result in a red card. Plus the penalty is missed, sensational stuff.
I got the goal number wrong initially 😱 so you'll hear I tried to style it out by saying "Goal number 202...<panic>...has come and gone, there's goal number 203!" Every year I break out in a cold sweat when this gets tweeted 😂
Steve Cooper: "We should pay special tribute to Joe Worrall. He's just had an ovation from the supporters, and in the dressing room. He's suffered a tragic bereavement, someone he was really close to, and he's still put us first when he didn't have to. What a performance."

Lloris: "People can say what they like, the reality is we have played 37 games away from home and we finish above Chelsea and above Arsenal. It's a great achievement."

Spoke to Andros Townsend after

...
On Demarai Gray: "£1.5m in today's market, we couldn't believe it."
On being booed by Brighton fans: "I knew what to expect coming here. Hopefully it's not just Everton fans but fans of my old employers who are happy tonight."
Hard to believe it's 30 years since that Grandstand

. Here's the full version with Des (still the GOAT) commentating over the action replay:
Rudiger: "It's a disaster. We don't talk about the title any more. If we can't win these games, we can't compete. We only talk now about top four. Maybe it's a lack of mentality. Stupid."

I recorded a radio promo for an upcoming commentary, kept getting it wrong and screamed abuse at myself into the microphone. When I edited it down I accidentally left in the bit where I loudly called myself a "c***". It went out on air 6 times before I had a chance to delete it.
Vieira says Zaha is only on the bench because he hasn't fully recovered from Monday night. "For someone who dives so much, he has an awful lot of bruises on his ankles."

: "For me, I could have done without it. I think we should just carry on straight through. The supporters aren't going away on holiday and they're the ones that keep this division going."
Courtois: "It doesn't help when the fans boo and whistle after each misplaced pass. We didn't play well but that's when we need the fans behind us."

It was Barry Davies's last day as a sports broadcaster today. He has so many words of wisdom for commentators:
>Silence can be golden, talk less
>Don't script lines in advance, the best commentary is spontaneous >Don't throw in a stat just because you can
Happy retirement Barry.
My son refused to believe that there was an episode of

where the little bear put Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's dad to sleep with magic, so Matthew Corbett could score against him.
Mount: "The manager wants me to get the ball and go forward, to create or try and score. It's been a rollercoaster couple of months but I've been waiting for this opportunity for a long time and I've been ready."

You've probably heard it many times before, but on the 24th anniversary of the
#Cantona
kung fu kick, take a moment to listen again to the glorious Jonathan Pearce commentary of the incident on Capital Gold.
The match has been cancelled with the score at 1-1. There is no way the players could be expected to carry on as if nothing has happened. All our best wishes to Tom Lockyer and his family

Just £45k for head of media & PR at the EFL?! Where do you even start? Two point 4s and no point 8 on the list of essential requirements. Minimum five years experience in a senior role 🤦♂️
Colchester captain Connor Hall discussing the 5-0 defeat at Forest Green with the away end - player and fans applaud each other at the end. Excellent leadership 👏
THREAD: This morning I've gone through 15 CVs of sports journalism graduates who are struggling to find work. Not one of these did any justice to the excellent industry experience these guys have - and almost all sadly featured basic spelling errors. Some thoughts on CVs here:
Seen the usual moans and groans about commentators apologising for bad language during football matches. Ofcom take swearing heard on TV and radio very seriously and apologies are required. They have undertaken a lot of research into the acceptability of offensive words.
We wanted to interview Luka Milivojevic for Sky and BBC after the game but he was feeling unwell. He'd insisted on playing and was physically shattered. Great attitude, great character

Not often an opposition player makes the cover of the match programme. Entirely correct in this instance. Tom Lockyer will be reunited with the four paramedics who saved his life pre-match here at
#BOULUT
Paul Heckingbottom: "The standard of officiating is appalling. Appalling. Something must change because we have people who know nothing about the game dictating the direction of the game."
#TOTSHU
Hodgson: "Last year Aaron (Wan-Bissaka) came to me and asked to go on loan; I said no. Not long after that he made the first team due to injury and he's never looked back. It shows I do make the odd good decision! He was outstanding today."

Wow I commentated on the Taylor goal here for TV and the Essien/Lampard/Drogba goals for radio. That was a good month. I miss football 😭 (even though it's not important right now)
Daka, Tielemans & Maddison will rightly get the plaudits after that extraordinary

win - but it was an absolute Rolls-Royce of a midfield display by Boubakary Soumaré. What a performance 👏 Best game I've seen in a long time
