When I think about Amity flinching when Luz showed her human rain, I think about the fact that the first time she experienced it, she looked like she was dissociating. Like she might have not even registered the first rain experience due to a trauma response to the day’s events.

Even then, it would be new hair grown at the mercy of time. And in that way, I think that Amity’s hair, outside of how it was actually used as a mechanism of abuse, is a powerful metaphor for abuse in general because eventho one can heal from it, abuse forever changes a person.
