🥼Last, but certainly not least, we cannot forget our amazing lab tech, Stephanie Bierly, who helps ensure that all students and projects are progressing forward. Thanks for helping the lab be so productive and keeping us all on track!

🔬Samantha Seibel, the newest member to the Ganda Lab, has received a T32 Training Grant from the NIH. This will help fund her research in the lab on antimicrobial resistance monitoring.

🐥Ana Fonseca has had the craziest summer of us all. She recently completed a broiler study looking at the microbiome of broilers impacted by feed additives that had 3,000 chickens! That’s a lot of time, energy, and woman-power spent to complete.

🐴Dr. Jennine Lection also received a prestigious fellowship from the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture. She is using her clinical skills as a reproductive theriogenologist to research alternative treatment therapies for metritis in dairy cows.

🧫Sophia Kenney has received a prestigious fellowship from the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Scientist Training Program. She will finish her education here at Penn State and then do work under the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

🧪Dr. Emily Van Syoc graduated from the lab with a PhD in the Dual-Title Program, Integrative & Biomedical Physiology and Clinical & Translational Sciences in August. She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Seth Bordenstein’s lab.

What’s been up with the Ganda Lab lately? Well it’s been a busy summer but we have lots to celebrate! . 🧬Dr. Erika Ganda received $1.3 million from the USDA to research the zoonotic pathogen, Salmonella Dublin, and work on developing new methods for tracking and identifying AMR.
