Late 90s/early 2000s near-future aesthetic that didn’t have a name. Chunky and portable gadgets during a time when we had hope for the internet. Run by

Chara-den were avatars you could use for videophone calls on keitai. The numberpad's keys correspond to different emotions. A Sonic chara-den was recently preserved by user Kagekiyo from a P902i. I'm using an official DoCoMo chara-den tool to view Sonic's animations.
The 1997 MZ-R5ST MiniDisc Recorder Walkman, with the docking station that essentially turned the portable into a stationary deck, is without a doubt one of the most interesting Sony designs of that era.
my first custom keyboard is complete AND IT TURNED OUT SO COOL 😭✨
I tried for a look that you’d find in old sci fi/tokusatsu shows— I got the most retro sounding switches I could find, the mouse has a monitor, and the keys light up (obviously to alert me if a kaiju is coming)
it’s probably helpful to remember neither ash or red are wearing any gadgets either, but they are absolutely gadgetpunk because of their athletic wear, the pokedex, and poke balls
I can see arguments either way, that’s why it’s a discussion worth having!
Otakon Digimon screening time!
So what exactly are they talking about at that screening event?
Let's get right into it with a trailer for...
Digimon the Movies!
If I’m asking it’s usually because I really can’t decide myself
because despite the backpacks, I don’t think ghostbusters is GP because the vibe is 80s— so is the tipping point of sunshine its 2000s summer vibes? Or does it need something more like luigi’s mansion’s GB horror?

I go back and forth. People who make cyber decks likely have cyberpunk aesthetics in mind, but I think putting a cyberdeck in something gadgetpunk instead would fit perfectly.
