It feels strange to watch cable TV and see [adult swim] still doing the joke text bumpers between ad breaks. Is there still someone writing these things? Who is he? She?

Of course a yo-yo instruction book contains a picture of activist Abbie Hoffman.

Sphinctober Day 666 is a portrait of one of my heroes, Abbie Hoffman. Nothing is spookier than a revolution for the hell of it, kids!

I think an accurate description would be to call this a fan book, though Lester only likes their first album. I think this book caused a schism between Blondie and Bangs as he is critical of their attempts at coming off as an art rock band despite leaning more on pop.

I don't know if I can recommend this to Blondie fans or only Lester Bangs fans. I like them both, and this was a cool piece of rock journalism to read through. Lester had a big hang-up on Harry's sex appeal being a large part of what attracted people to their music.

A drawing of Blondie by Hanna Strauss. Featured in Lester Bangs' book about the band.

Ah! According to Wikipedia, they’re called the Silent Generation.

On the subject of boomers, is there a name for people born before the War’s end? I only thought about after noticing R. Crumb was born in ‘43. Are they still boomers?

Punk/New Wave artist to be a bit more precise. I usually assume a lot of them were born in the ‘50s, but she was born the year WWII would end.

Something I didn’t know about Debbie Harry was that she was in a hippie band in the late ‘60s. Her age was apparently a sensitive topic. It’s interesting that she was an cool ‘80s rockstar despite almost being a boomer.

Started reading Leater Bangs’ book about Blondie and I like it so far. It’s been a while since I read Bangs. Can’t help but love a rock critic whose muse was cough medicine.

Well, another case of underwhelming lost media has surfaced for all to see. Now where in the hell is that German documentary about Fritz the Cat that was posted on YouTube 16 years ago? Come on! You get to see footage of a young Ralph Man ordering a hotdog in 1970!

I wonder why this film captured so many people's imaginations. You'd think after Short Subject, folks would be wise to how shorts like it turn out. I love the comments that call it proto-Newgrounds. Haw!

Uncle Walt is up there with Short Subject (a.k.a. Mickey Mouse In Vietnam) as something that sounds more enticing than the final product. If you want to see the Mouse done dirty in a good way, go read "Air Pirates Funnies" instead.

one of my favorite things about the scott adams saga is the fact that he rebooted dilbert after losing national syndication and called it “dilbert reborn” with the intention of it being edgier and more topical. it’s like if a disgraced jim davis made “garfield after dark”

I started a new thing on my old blog that I'm excited about, "My Favorite Comics." Normally, I'd share them here, but nah. I want to get more back into blogging. Anyway, I just share comics I didn't draw that I like. The 1st entry is "Tomato the Cutesy Gumshoe" by Akira Toriyama.
