@frompolarland What was your point here? They’re still ugly, soulless boxes filled with more ugly soulless boxes.

@frompolarland Soviet prefab apartments are a wonderful experiment in perspective. Either you can complain about how fucked they *look* or you can appreciate that a family has a roof + amenities. Idgaf how dusted up they look now, its a net-win for society. Make more!

@frompolarland I hope those aren’t poplars. In the USSR, poplars were often planted like that because they grew fast and required little care. But in early summer they release a lot of fluff for weeks. Highly allergenic. Fucking bioweapon. I hated it. Made my nose run for a month.

@frompolarland That is fucking horrid actually. If you think that is acceptable. If you find that sort of living desirable, you are probably some sort of strange insect. But definitely not human.

@frompolarland kinda (?) grew up in one of those. Half of the buildings at where I lived were built by soviets so they are old and crumbling. Yes the rooms are cramped and tiny, but u cant deny that neighbourhood like this has its unique charm. Everyone were friends with everyone, mostly.

@frompolarland People keep focusing on their looks and not the fact that they provide housing to people. Of course, they can be improved but it's much nicer than having people paying exorbitant rents or sleeping on the street.

@frompolarland I wish western leftists stop glamourizing USSR and come to live here. This exact building is a shithole place.

@frompolarland Speaking for myself (bear with me, communist, it’s a thing we do), but this doesn’t exactly look like “fucking magic,” it looks like panel buildings piled on top of each other
