In an incredible display of solidarity, the Fresno Area Substitute Teachers Association (FASTA) @SEIU521 has voted to stand with the Fresno Teachers Association and NOT cross the picket line.

Strike authorized. The votes are in! An overwhelming 93.5% of voters said YES to authorize a strike against Fresno Unified School District. Our teachers have spoken loud and clear. They're ready to take action to secure better conditions for our students and educators.

On Wednesday, 3,400+ of Fresno’s best educators stood up and shouted with one voice: “Enough is enough.” Join us and stand up for a better Fresno Unified.

Does making kids and educators sweat in hot rooms while in 106 degree weather in August sound like creating the best environment to learn?

Earlier this year, FUSD signed a contract that gave a consultant authority to raise temps in classrooms & other buildings across the district, among other items. The consultant gets to pocket the savings, which is estimated at $11 million over the next few years.

Together, educators and community members, we can hold FUSD accountable and work towards building a district that genuinely prioritizes our students' needs and listens to the concerns of its educators.

It's time for Supt. Nelson to truly lead, to step up, face reality, and adopt our proposals that will address the issues in our district head-on.

We can expect the district to churn out more spin in the coming weeks and months. Brace yourselves for false claims of bankruptcy, a spotlight on their supposedly stellar practices, & more. It's all smoke and mirrors, designed to divert attention away from the real issues.

Our educators have already lost faith in the district’s negotiations communication. In a recent membership poll, a whopping 89% of educators said they don't find FUSD's negotiation communication credible.

FUSD already has a well-funded, multi-million-dollar communications department. So, why are they wasting more money on a consultant? These are resources that could be better spent improving learning conditions for our students.
