BIG day at the FPD
For the first time in the history of the Franklin Police Department, the number of female Officers on shift outnumber the male officers!
Ben Franklin has started puppy kindergarten at MasterPeace Dog Training and is spending his day shift patrolling the halls of the Police Station looking for people who need hugs.
Merry Christmas from Ben Franklin and the FPD! Ben is home enjoying his day off today and celebrating ( by napping ). Ben says thank you to everyone who sent him a gift, and everyone who has wished him good health ( and criminal rehabilitation ) in the new year!
Therapy dogs are used to comfort people who have been involved in a trauma, or stressful event. They can also help de-escalate situations, and bring a calming presence to a scene.

***Update on missing 15-year-old Jazlyn Rodrigues***
Jazlyn Rodrigues, a 15-year-old Franklin, MA resident who has been missing since October 10th was found safe this afternoon. She is being reunited with her family. No further information is available at this time.
Our new therapy dog arrived today. Pictured with the Community Services Division. He will be trained by Masterpeace Dog Training in Franklin. Owners Fran Masters and Patty Sontag already checking him out!
Nick Gaspar is a 8th grade student at the Horace Mann Middle School who is passionate about sports, namely basketball and lacrosse. Nick was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and needs all the support and well wishes he can get. Stay strong Nick!

Sgt. Johnson received the first of his two Covid vaccines today. Thank you to the Franklin Board of Health and the other participating communities for getting this site up and running for first responders.
Sgt. Johnson Retires
Today marks the last day for Sgt. Brian Johnson. Sgt. Johnson is retiring after 28 years in law enforcement. Thank you for your service Sgt. Enjoy retirement and your next chapter!

The Franklin Police Department is looking for the public’s assistance in locating Jazlyn Rodrigues, 15, of Franklin.
Jazlyn Rodrigues is a Hispanic female with dark curly hair with blonde highlights.
No job too big, no duck too small. Officer Burchill finishing up his last day of field training assisting the animal control officer with ducklings stuck in a storm drain. Officer Burchill (6 ft 4 inches tall) and his gigantic wingspan were able to rescue all the ducklings.

It was our honor to have assisted the final Shayne’s Run, an annual motor cycle run honoring Marine Lance Cpl. Shayne M. Cabino.
Marine Lance Cpl. Shayne M. Cabino, 19 of Franklin MA died on October 6, 2005 serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Stay away from the 70 block of Pleasant Street for an on-going barricaded subject. Pleasant Street will be shut down by the common as well as all nearby streets including Moore Ave, Hillside Road, and Dean Ave.

Officers have been responding to motor vehicle crashes all over town this afternoon. A mix of heavy rain, wind, and leaves have made for less than ideal road conditions. Reduce your speeds and increase the distance between the car in front of you. Get home in one piece!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Members of the Franklin Police Department will be authorized to wear our "Pink Patch" in support of cancer research, awareness, and enrichment opportunities for those affected with this awful disease.

Jimmy Fund Summer Festival in Dedham. The event gives active patients a respite from the hospital and offers survivors the opportunity to reconnect with old caregivers and friends.
***POLICE ACTIVITY DEAN COLLEGE***
There will be a large police presence at Dean College tonight and possibly parts of tomorrow. This is part of the the FBI Academy Associates 5 Day Youth Leadership Program. These are all staged demonstrations and there is no risk to the public.

The Franklin Police would like to highlight and acknowledge the amazing work done by our female employees on this, International Women’s Day.
The FPD has been working hard towards gender parity in this a predominately male occupation.
