Work on language comprehension at their thinking level.Ultimately, dyslexics will be able to read text on their own-but until then, make comprehension a “print-less” activity.Keep them intellectually engaged, learning vocab. & not guessing at words they can’t decode. #ogwinter2021.

#jeffersoncounty2og2021 Remember this on your last day of training. #hopespringseternal.
"One of the most exciting outcomes of dyslexia research is the firm conclusion that with early identification and appropriate instruction it is possible to 'overcome' dyslexia (Shaywitz, 2003) or even 'prevent' it (Fletcher, et al., 2019; Gaab, 2019)." Hasbrouck, in press.

#juneogplus2021 Make sure that the child’s program is coordinated. For those of you in my course, you can’t be on Route 70 and Route 66 at the same time. @StephPratt3 @SarahAnnHawkey.

CA Class action suit settled last week #jeffersoncounty2og2021 requiring a school district to only use literacy programs that follow the Science of Reading-cannot use Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy or Reading Recovery. #arethereadingwarsover #canwestopfightingandendilliteracy
Requires BUSD to universally screen for risk of dyslexia, supplement its core curriculum to include phonics & PA instruction, adopt reading intervention programs aligned with the Science Of Reading🧵.#dyslexia #CAdyslexialawsuit #UniversalScreening #SB237.

@JoAnneGross1 A literate person can read & write.Teaching kids how the sounds of their oral language work, leading to a reading is “breathing in”/writing is “breathing out” model is important for ALL & a lifeline in early literacy instruction 4 #Dyslexia #ELL & #StrugglingReaders #talkreadwrite.
