Fear will never create the conditions for that kind of belonging. Fear may motivate us to tear things down, but hope inspires us to plant seeds. Hope is our revolutionary garden. Tend to it.

Hope, on the other hand? It allows us to dream of a more just future. It creates space for possibility and change. If we want a liberated future, we must belong to each other. We must care for each other. We must value each other's dignity.

Hope is not naïve. It is a revolutionary tool for revolutionary times. Fear is an excellent catalyst. It creates a sense of urgency to act, but it does not sustain movements. Much like a fire, all that is left in its wake are ashes.
