Some engines don’t stay around very long, but the good ones can see decades of production and use across a variety of applications. Here’s a cool story talking about the 5 automotive engines that have been in production the longest.

The Ford 300 inline-6, AMC straight-6, Buick 3.8-liter V6, Rolls-Royce-Bentley L-series, and VW flat-4 lasted decades with few major changes.

Overheating and can’t find the cause? Check the radiator cap. A weak spring won’t let the system pressurize, which can lead to overheating. Sometimes the simplest fix is the right one. #radiatorcap #enginecooling #overheating

We’ve all seen that ‘I’ll fix it one day’ car. This 1965 Aston Martin DB5 actually got its day — its owner spent 400,000 pounds (500k USD) to have it rebuilt 50 years after buying it. Full story: https://t.co/KwEmAFXcsa

GM may bring back the classic 5.7L (350) and 6.6L (400) V8s. Curious to see what bore-stroke combos they’d use to hit those numbers today. #v8engine #smallblockchevy #carengines #truckengines

An upper radiator hose can look fine but still be failing. As it ages, it can lose rigidity and get sucked closed under pressure, restricting coolant flow even with the thermostat open. If you're chasing overheating, make sure the upper hose isn’t collapsing.

Fighting engine overheating issues and thinking of pulling your thermostat as a solution? In many cases that will only make the problem worse. Running no thermostat means the coolant doesn’t stay in the radiator long enough for proper heat exchange.

On July 4, 2025, the town of Seward, Nebraska, cracked open a pyramid shaped time capsule that had been sealed closed in 1975 with a 1975 Chevrolet Vega and other “artifacts.” Check it out here: https://t.co/JqjTFaXaVo

What does winter mean for engine cooling systems? Checking the coolant is a good start. Coolant degrades over time, corrosion and scale increase, which restricts flow and can damage aluminum components, including radiators, heater cores and water pump impellers.

We spotted this new F-150 at the 2025 SEMA Show that had been modified into a concept for a what a modern full-size Ford Bronco might look like. What do you think, would it be cool if Ford built this?
