Do people use Newtonian physics in intuitive sensorimotor decisions under risk? In our paper at #CogSci2023 together with @dominikstrb and @ConstantinRoth1 we show that they do! Come to my in-person talk on Friday in room C 2.3 at 15:20 to find out more! https://t.co/QkTSI2Tvh2

Using computational modeling, we show that people are not only sensitive to their individual variability of motor outcomes, but also to how Newtonian physics influences this variability. Check out our paper to find out more about it!

Subjects had to slide pucks at targets, which yielded different rewards or penalties! It turns out the subjects actually had quite some fun playing our little game, while also being quite good at it.

Many tasks we accomplish on a daily basis involve Intuitive Physics, Motor Control and Decision-Making. Here, we investigate all of these faculties in one immersive, naturalistic experiment using Motion Tracking and Virtual Reality.

If we want to see a more peaceful world, we have to learn to collaborate. Young people shouldn’t follow previous patterns of behaviour. New conditions, like our interdependent, globalised world, require new ideas. Dividing people into ‘us’ and ‘them’ is out of date.

I wish cool research labs hired vloggers to make mini-docs to go along with their published papers. I wanna binge watch dramatic storytelling behind incredible science instead of just illegally reading it via scihub.
