Josiah Sweeney loses a heartbreaker 10-7. Caught on his back early, Josiah fought off and had a solid ride in the 2nd period to keep the score 7-0 going into the 3rd. He put together two takedowns and got a stall point to come up just short. We are so proud of our Sweeney!

John Murphy loses a tight 9-7 decision and places 6th at 132. Johnny started wrestling 15 months ago and finishes his senior year as a Top 50 kid in NJ. We could not be any more proud of Johnny Murphy!

Josiah Sweeney places 4th in the Region at 106. He joins Joe Berryman, Angelo Messina, Brandon Smith, Nico Messina, Tony Dushku, Josh Davis and Jamie Giovinazzo as the only state qualifiers for Freehold Boro since the turn of the century.

Day 2 of the Region Tournament 9:30 am start Josiah Sweeney (106), John Murphy (132) and Onesimo Nieto (215) will all be in action, and will try to secure their ticket to Atlantic City!

John Murphy and Onesimo Nieto lost competitive bouts in the quarterfinals, and will compete in the consolation quarters this morning. John and Onesimo are able to wrestle back for either third or 4th place, which would grant them a spot in the State Tournament in Atlantic City.
