The final day of the @adhus_fauhs Summer Research Workshop started with histology & ended with student presentations. Dr. @oceanexplauren led students through processing, embedding, slicing, staining, and viewing tissue in the Imaging Lab.

@ADHUS_FAUHS @insideFPL They showed us their SEM, FTIR, and 3d cameras as well. The afternoon brought us to @faujupiter for a lab on drosophila genes and behavior with our own Dr. Krill. Students practiced identifying different phenotypes and sorting flies for behavior experiments. What a cool day!!

Day 4 of the @adhus_fauhs Research Skills Workshop took us to the @insidefpl High Voltage Lab (aka the lightning lab)!! We'll post photos if we get permission, but students did see materials science and testing in action, including simulated lightning strikes on power equipment.

Day 3 of the @adhus_fauhs Summer Research Skills Workshop was for drones and dissection. Students flight planned their drone path for hyperspectral data collection. After analyzing their data, we switched gears to practice brain dissection and electrophysiology basics. @FauBrain

Day 2 of the @adhus_fauhs Summer Research Skills Workshop connected field and lab research, starting with a trip to Wahoo Bay. Students learned about collecting data via drone, ROV, point sampling, and observation. Back in the lab, water samples were filtered for FTIR analysis.

Day 1 of our annual Summer Research Skills Workshop @ADHUS_FAUHS is in the books! Students from gr. 8-12 used a balance to weigh chemicals, made & diluted solutions, pipetted tiny volumes of liquid, & practiced creating scientific graphics. Day 2 - we head out for field research!
