99% of the work that tradesmen did in 1800 has been completely mechanized and automated. It used to be that a carpenter literally had to shape logs into usable boards and studs and floor planks with hand tools far worse than what people can make now. They had no nail guns, they

While detained by ICE, held in cold rooms for 1.5mo, woken up every 3 hr for an "escape check" (sleep deprivation torture), milked for access to family ($7/min), drugs in food to keep them tame, yet still fights over theft by Africans or racism by Russians.

An acquaintance got deported by ICE to Mexico. The cartel controls the MX office to which he was delivered, and immediately after "release", kidnaps people and holds people for $3000-$6000 ransom.

Hating something is not the same as hating when it's forced into your life. Change your language. Don't say you hate a thing. Say you hate when you are unjustly forced to have the thing in your life. Like when Biff said "I hate manure." Manure is a good thing when it's used in

Mercy to the guilty is not only cruelty to the innocent, but also to the guilty who fails to get his just deserts, necessary to his redemption.

Never mind that he's a monster by the moral criteria of the vast majority of the productive population—he's a failure as an Ogre.

History is not going to be kind to Putin. He had it good, and he played his hand like an idiot. Like other stupid dictators, he fails by his self-assigned criterion of success and growth for the State of Russia.

The Putin regime is justifying forceful territorial annexation of a neighbor's territory based on protecting a linguistic population in the South West... then importing a neighbor's linguistic population into its own territory in the South East. What goes around comes around.

If billionaires are thieves, I wonder whom did Elon steal all those electric cars, space rockets, boring machines, satellites and internet connection boxes from.

Overcome evil with good. Not “niceness” Not “tolerance” Not “accommodation” Evil should be uncomfortable in your presence.

People steal more often not for survival, but rather to sustain a lifestyle of "desperate partying." From Wright and Decker's study of armed robbers ("Armed Robbers in Action: Stickups and Street Culture"):

sociologist that studied criminology here and poverty is indeed the main driver of crime, people steal, rob, sell drugs, etc bc they need to survive. one of the most simple things a society can do to lessen crime is provide a basic standard of living/universal basic income.

I inaugurated my new home's semi-livability by watching "Kedamono no Ken" (1965). The story is a bit disjointed to start with, but by the end there are no loose ends and the whole is compelling. Worth watching. (But won't dethrone Seppuku (1962) as my favorite jidai-geki movie.)

The rational answer to "this enemy used this weapon against us" is not "eliminate this weapon" but "eliminate this enemy".

"Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent" Mercy to the guilty is the very definition of the Left.

Though I play defense, my profession requires me to anticipate what the offense will try, and I realize that the trauma associated to this "empathy" with criminals is precisely part of the harms from which I'm supposed to shield my wards.

What more, inasmuch as empathy is possible with the criminals, the predators, the enemies—that empathy is taxing, corrupting, and can even be traumatizing.

There's no "empathy" to be had with people who are very different from you—especially not on the parts that matter, where they indeed are different, as opposed to the universal shared parts that offer no insight on the difference that matters.

"Empathy" is an impossible task, setup by psychopaths boasting they can do it, to manipulate naive believers who can't but will be guided into the fake empath's conclusions, and to isolate them from unbelievers who reject the premise and will be tagged as evil.
