I’m going to write a thread that I hope will help someone. It’s not a positive thread so bear with me.
I’m going through a very tough stretch and counseling is not helping me. I have had suicidal thoughts numerous times and I’m barely holding on.
Here’s the entire video clip from The Voice UK in 2019 when Tom Jones and Jennifer Hudson battled on “It’s a Man’s World.” Olly Murs goaded them into it and this is tremendous. Again, Tom Jones must be protected at all costs.
Here’s Dina Asher-Smith being interviewed by the BBC and then Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce walking in. This is a hilarious interview. Dina asking when Shelly-Ann was going to have a second child and then eventually Shelly-Ann going in on Dina’s Jamaican heritage.

At 5:07 pm, Pen Jeng Fang passed away peacefully. His family was with him via Zoom. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth and his beloved children Kenneth, Shona and Terry.
You probably changed the channel to CBS, but before it signed off, NBC Sports ran credits for the great
@SNFonNBC
crew. Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth shook before the credits rolled. Always appreciate seeing season-ending credits.
Please share some good thoughts for my dad. He was admitted to the hospital tonight with
#COVID19
. As many of you are aware, he has Alzheimer’s Disease. I can’t be with him, I wish I could be there to speak for him.
@shannonrwatts
My aunt and uncle were among those who were shot, Shannon. My cousin says they’re fortunate because the bullets missed their vital organs and in good spirits. But I can’t imagine what they went through.
NESN gave them two signed balls and a signed jersey from Kenley Jansen, who saw the whole thing live in the clubhouse, so all's well that ends well. And
@middlebrooks
signed "Nice throw, kid."
Jake Wightman of Great Britain wins the men’s 1500 meters. Steve Cram of BBC Sport with the great call of Wightman taking over the race in the back straight.
@TrajanGregory
Tom at 82 can sing better than most of the kids today. And God threw a lightning bolt and it hit Jennifer Hudson. It gave her that tremendous voice.
One time, Kevin McHale broke the Celtics scoring record with 56 points. Larry got mad that McHale wouldn’t go for 60, so the next game, Larry broke McHale’s record by scoring 60 points.
While Jim Nantz did a great job on the Men's Final Four from 1991 through 2023, Ian Eagle has stepped in and sounded like he's been calling this event with Grant Hill, Bill Raftery and Tracy Wolfson for ten years.
We have come to the end of the road for my dad. It was a hard decision, but my family has decided to take him off the ventilator and make him as comfortable as possible for his last hours. He has gotten worse and there’s no sense in prolonging his suffering.
At 1:03 pm ET, Elizabeth Meiling Fang passed away at home. Her loving children, Shona Chunliu, Terry Chunyao and Kenneth Zen Fang were with her. She will be missed. Rest in Power, Mom. We love you.
One time Bill Walton watched SportsCenter and thought a play would work for the Celtics. He called Bird late at night.
Larry answered, “Bill, that play won’t work. Now leave me alone and go to bed!”
Didn’t realize it until I saw the end of Inside the NBA tonight, the former Turner Sports was very busy with studio crews for the NBA (of course), NHL and MLB all working Tuesday. Tremendous.
ESPN has put together a great panel in Elle Duncan, Andraya Carter, Chiney Ogwumike, Carolyn Peck and even guest analyst Aliyah Boston. You can tell they genuinely like each other and the chemistry shows.
I don't know why the network can't do this with its other studio shows.
Since Phil Hartman is trending, I give you the screenshot of one of his greatest SNL sketches, “The Sinatra Group” which had Jan Hooks at Sinead O’Connor, Sting as Billy Idol, Chris Rock as Luther Campbell and Mike Myers and Victoria Jackson as Steve and Edie. Tremendous.
I’m reminded every time I watch ESPN’s international soccer coverage that along with NBC’s Premier League, they’re the gold standard when watching the beautiful game in the US.

@NBCOlympics
announces that New England Revolution sideline reporter
@NaokoFunayama
will join its team in Tokyo. Congrats, Naoko!
Naoko also covered the Boston Bruins for NESN.
Apple TV+ going all out for the Bienvenido Messi introduction in Miami.
@KaylynKyle
and
@TaylorTwellman
started with David Beckham and Inter Miami owner Jose Mas.
Right now, I’m in the car with Sampson. I had to make one of my toughest decisions today. I have to put him down. His health issues are too much for him to go through and I don’t want him to suffer anymore. I’m doing all I can to make this a good day for him.
I can't imagine that someone who was at the Oxford High School shooting in 2021 and is now at Michigan State University is living through two mass shootings in their lifetimes.
@shannonrwatts
NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast reviewed this documentary on Thursday and they pointed out the inequities of the two sides. Needless to say, they all raved about it. I can't wait to see it.
Back in 2016, I compiled 12 of Uncle Verne’s best calls for
@awfulannouncing
and yes, the Laettner shot was in there. So was “YES, SIR!” at the 1986 Masters, Tiger Woods’ miracle shot and two Prayers at Jordan Hare.
As the Pac-12 Network ends its basketball coverage, host
@AdamsonAshley
gives analysts Don MacLean and Matt Muehlebach time to provide their thoughts on their years at the network.
On NFL RedZone, Scott Hanson salutes Andrew Siciliano and DirecTV for the Red Zone Channel, the inspiration for Hanson’s version. And it signs off for the 2022-23 season.
Sampson has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He’s no longer in pain. He will see my mom and dad and I’m sure he’ll jump on a couch just to annoy her.
I’ll see you on the other side, Sampson.
In the last segment of the Basketball Postgame, host Ashley Adamson says that this is the last event for which she’s scheduled. She recognizes the behind the scenes crew, “The reality is we don’t really know what’s ahead … The only that is guaranteed is more change.”
This story is behind the paywall, but it's pretty amazing about the growth of Jomboy from doing recaps of the Yankees to a company doing recaps of all sports.
On the Pac-12 network, for the UCLA vs. Arizona baseball game, the announcers have either left the booth for a hot dog in the 10th inning or their microphones don't work. It's a mystery. Only crowd noise.
I love the Tiny Desk Concert. Learned about so many artists and saw many artists I love perform here. It’s like how MTV Unplugged used to be and it’s even better.
The YouTube page is filled with great performances. Ok, I’m going to post my favorites in this thread.
Theme song composed by Mike Post who did The Rockford Files, Hill Street Blues, Magnum PI, The A Team, LA Law, Law & Order and so many other TV theme tunes from the 1970's to the 1990's.
My uncle and aunt were among those shot at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods today. I’m not going to identify them at this time. My cousin says they’re very fortunate to be alive. He says they’re in good spirits.
I’m very relieved because I felt very helpless.
Nice update to the YouTube TV Apple TV app. Guide has been made much easier to view and there’s a live preview window on the upper right plus some live windows on the top of the guide. I like it.
According to
@ScottHanson
, the release of the Week 18 schedule which includes an ESPN NFL Saturday doubleheader (also simulcast on ABC) and the final SNF game of the season should be at the end of tonight, so expect it to come out during the SNF postgame.
I'll keep an eye for it
I give credit to the players of the Bills and Bengals and the NFL Players Association for taking things into their own hands and basically suspending tonight’s game themselves making the NFL take action.
I would like to thank you all for the kind words over my dad’s passing. It means the world to me. While I can’t reply to everyone, the outpouring of support these last few hours have been comforting.
ESPN did all it could to cover this. While Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Suzy Kolber, Booger McFarland and Adam Schefter were pretty much lost for words, I don't know what anyone else could do in the same situation.
Booger had the right words later on.
Here’s a picture of mom and dad together at Goddard Park in Rhode Island back in 2016. My iPhone notified me of this memory just after she passed today. Kind of interesting how that happened.
I like how CBS just presented the brackets. No prolonging of the madness. Just present the regions, quick reactions and get to commercial, then the next bracket. No silliness as in previous years under the CBS/Turner era.
It is looking more likely that the NFL will not flex Bears-Chargers out of Sunday Night Football in Week 8. That is a very harsh matchup for NBC that night.
Personal note: Mom is going into hospice care today. It is not an end-of-life situation. Just giving her better home care than she would get from her regular caregivers.
She could get better, but me and my sisters are getting prepared just in case.
Could use your thoughts.
Today is the final day for
@andrewperloff
on
@dpshow
. He’ll be co-hosting a new show with
@MaggieGray
on CBS Sports Radio next year. Best of luck, McLovin. May you have fun in your next chapter.
