A quick and important read. “Untreated, individuals with anosognosia end up homeless, jailed, or dead… To ignore anosognosia while suggesting that it may be a good idea to shun existing medications, consigns wonderful people to a living Hell.”

Hey. You may have tensed up again. It's OK. Let's take a moment to take care of you. Relax your shoulders. Unclench your jaw. Unstick your tongue from the top of your mouth. Relax your hands. Take a deep breath. And go. ‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍🌳

“so many people with schizophrenia are incarcerated or homeless, or they are dying at age 55… I have to say that I'm not sure I understood that 5 or 10 years ago when I was at NIMH… that this is as much a social justice problem as a scientific problem.” @thomasinselmd (1/4)

Our family members - and yours - deserve better than this. Catch & release is a cruel and inhumane strategy for dealing with mental illness.
