While all Marxist attempts at economics are simplistic and incompetent, and their attempts at science dangerously wrongheaded, and their ideas of justice are criminally vicious, what inevitably destroys Socialist societies is the centralization and control. People hate it.
What the Soviet experiment, and every other authoritarian project has taught us, is that human beings flourish and prosper through liberty, not control. Yes, governance is necessary, to keep the peace, regulate hazardous things, but impose too much, and society grinds to a halt.

Surveillance destroys trust, in both the people being surveilled and the people doing the surveilling. Surveillance destroys the very fabric of human society. Surveillance has repeatedly been a tool for oppression. Surveillance requires checks and balances.
People I know have trackers on their keys, wallet, etc. Wife likes to track her husband. Her idea. Husband tolerates it, but finds it annoying. Wife got super angry when husband was out somewhere but tracker app said he was home. Turned out the tracker app had glitched. 🤦
