a brooklyn man was arrested for allegedly stealing ~$16M by posing as exchange 'support'. he bragged from his handle "lolimfeelingevil" if you get a call saying your account is hacked, hang up. huge credit to @zachxbt for his investigation that helped bring attention to this

new fear unlocked: wallet drainers via legit websites. if a site suddenly prompts a weird signature / permit, close it. treat it like the site got injected — not that you ‘misclicked.’ slowing down is cheaper than getting drained.

Why you shouldn't panic: • Your existing crypto is SAFE (but still pause transacting) • Private keys NOT being stolen • Smart contracts NOT compromised • This only affects NEW transactions through infected web apps It's a browser-layer attack, not a blockchain exploit.

TL;DR: Major NPM packages got hijacked after maintainer was phished. The malware swaps crypto addresses in your browser. Do not transact today. If you must, use a hardware wallet and verify ON THE DEVICE where funds are going. Your existing crypto is safe.

The silver lining: • Attack detected within minutes by security researchers (Aikido) • NPM and GitHub teams actively removing malicious packages • Most packages already cleaned (some still compromised) • No evidence of private keys being stolen-only txn manipulation
