TV shows in the '80s used to wish their viewers a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays at the end of their special episodes 🎄 We truly used to be a proper country.

All of young Sam’s family and all of Allison’s family (including the dogs!) descended on their home this afternoon for some porch time! Truly blessed to have a daughter-in-law AND her family whom I love and adore.

Mitzi’s NOT crazy about the new sweater I got for Christmas, but I think it may be the greatest item of clothing I’ve ever worn! “The mood is right, the spirit’s up . . . . “

Nothing to do with Christmas, but I’m about ready to declare low-sodium V8 as the greatest beverage in the world.

It’s just not the holidays until we visit the enormous Christmas tree display at @TheHotelRoanoke! My vote for the best one was this Frosty the Snowman tree!

There’s no sadder time of year to work at a funeral service establishment than during Christmas. The death of a loved one at a time when everyone else is celebrating, plus families having to either rush arrangements and “beat” the holidays or else wait until they’re over with.

I’m not even thinking about the tickets I have for Barry Manilow’s postponed Greensboro show in January, I just want this icon to have his surgery and get a clean bill of health.

Just saw where singer Chris Rea died. While I’m sorry about his passing, the article said he was best known for “Driving Home for Christmas”. I’ve honestly never even HEARD of that song before, but his “Fool (If You Think It’s Over)” is a mainstay on soft rock stations.

I just had a friend who’s on a cruise ship send me this photograph, taken this morning. Not sure if he’s sharing the beauty with me or whether he’s rubbing in the fact that I’m at work on a 22 degree morning while he’s enjoying tropical breezes!

You’d be hard pressed to find a prettier spot at sunrise than Garst Mill Park in Roanoke County. This morning was near perfect; just wish I could have gotten a picture of the raccoon who scampered up a tree as I passed by!

The eastern skies are looking fine again this morning!

So the Dawgs, Dukes, and Packers all lose tonight. Not even gonna check the Powerball numbers on my lottery ticket.

My church looks great by day, but even better at night! Took this shot earlier on the way to the hockey game. Who cares if I jammed up Memorial Avenue to get a good picture?!

While I certainly love the @RailYardDawgs and wouldn’t think of missing tonight’s home game, it’s gonna hurt not watching the JMU/Oregon playoff game AND the all-important Green Bay/Chicago divisional game. Too many great sporting events!

A fantastic morning for a Botetourt County hike at Roaring Run and some time at the Frog Hollow cabin! Got so nice I was able to take off my coat!

Heading out pre-sunrise to the greater Eagle Rock area of Botetourt County! Our mission: to pick some running cedar and galax leaves for Christmas decorations. This tradition was passed down from my grandfather Oakey and dates back over 75 years!
