If you've got a few minutes, read about Dr. Jean-Jacques Muyembe, a brilliant scientist from Congo, who was the first to collect an Ebola sample, but who has also been essentially written out of history.

This is such a powerful story. It shows that he was born for the sole purpose of finding a cure for ebola. He didn't survive in 1976 when he came in contact with infected blood by luck, but because he HAD to survive. He HAD to be the one to discover it's cure. Wow!

This kind of exploitation of African researchers is still rife in our Academic institutions. I'm glad that he has learnt from the injustices of the past & has tried to put measures in place to prevent the theft of intellectual property. Great example for young African researchers
