Have you ever wonder why mere reading articles, watch tutorials, tends to have less knowledge retention compared to actually building something and use the articles and tutorials as compliments? Well, in learning, we have "passive" and "active" approaches. #coding

I was an old school googler for finding information and reserching on IT topics. This year, after a brief usage of chatGPT, completely changed my mind. Not only that the result of chatGPT is informative, it is also easy to digest.

as the "watched" information _DID NOT_ actually solve a problem in our lives. With the idle information just sitting there in our brain, the brain will eventually discard it in order to make room for more important knowledge. (2).

Fun fact about learning to code:. We gain better knowledge retention by trail and error and when we get stuck, we use the "tutorials". If we get started by just watching tutorials without actually using them, the brain will flag those "watched" tutorials as "not important" (1).

Learning advanced TypeScript? One way to practice your knowledge is to get any tutorial of a library that only exists in JS and convert the tutorial into TS version. Of course, a lot of struggles in the process -- but you will gain a lot of knowledge from practicing this way.

coding with Windows + wsl2 core i7 ram 32 lately. makes me think of Mac M1 ram 16 so hard -- ease of tools installation, speed, energy efficiency, just work, robust and consistent experience. .
