This, from George Will, the conservative's conservative. Love some of his phrasing, eg. Rubio's "well-known versatility of convictions."

Thank you Tim. I think actually you'd be surprised at some of my political views. Thank you for being rational. Read on! And while I'm at it, let me recommend Candice Millard's "Destiny of the Republic," now adapted for a TV series under the title, "Death by Lightning."
@exlarson Does everything have to be about politics? I may not agree with some of your political views but your books are fantastic. I’ve enjoyed every one and am looking forward to your next one. Thanks for your high quality work!

Often diaries. Newspaper accounts. Letters. Whenever I stumble across a reference to a scent, or to weather for that matter, I grab it, in case it becomes useful down the road.
@exlarson Love your work. I have a question: How do you identify and describe scents? Do you typically need a reference from the time or are most posited from other evidence and sources? You go through this in your Isaac’s Storm notes, but nowhere else (so far as I can tell). Thanks!

Why don't you cool off and reread that first sentence. And the rest of that paragraph.
@exlarson ok, I haven’t even started “The Demon,,,” and I see your absurd comparison of Jan 6 to the discord that ignited the Civil War. Let me guess, your next project is a WWII book w comparisons between Hitler and Orange Man. I’ll attempt this read, but I’m now skeptical.

Nice post by Jim Acosta. Why the White House press corps doesn't rebel in a collective way when Trump behaves like this is beyond me. He needs the press more than the press needs him.

My thoughts on Trump calling a WH reporter “piggy.” Imagine if he had spoken this way to your wife, mother, or daughter like this. This doesn’t make you a president and it certainly doesn’t make...

She's the best.
@exlarson I ended up finding "Destiny of the Republic" by Candace Millard because I had read several of your books and loved them so much I went searching for other narrative non-fiction writers. It's great to know that there is camaraderie amongst such fantastic authors.

Thanks. Aware of it. It's adapted from a friend's book.
@exlarson Hey Erik! There’s a new limited series on Netflix called “Death by Lightning” about politics in the 1800’s that I thought you’d really enjoy. Only 4 episodes too. Just a heads up :)

Will definitely watch, but I must tell you, you've killed off two book ideas centered on the American Revolution that I've been mulling for a couple of years. You've done me a favor, however. Colonial handwriting would have driven me mad!
The American Revolution is one of the most important events in human history. We went from being subjects to citizens, and set in motion democratic revolutions around the globe. It’s a great story – and hugely relevant to today. I hope you can watch. #AmericanRevolutionPBS

On Sept. 25, 1918, the Princess Sophia ran aground on the Vanderbilt Reef in Lynn Canal off the coast of British Columbia and Alaska. Stranded on the reef for days, all 364 onboard died. The only survivor was a dog that made it to shore. This is the story. 🧵 1/12

I am indeed that guy.
@exlarson One America News, a conservative org. Hey - Are you the guy who wrote Devil in the White City? I swear 15 years ago I called out sick from work so I could finish reading that book. I never had before or since read a book that I just couldn’t put down it was so good.
