Revised proposals for student and coliving accommodation at the former Heavitree rd police station are far from ideal. Aspects of the co-living blocks are overbearing and unfit for future reporposing so we have objected to the planning application-see here

Proposals for the redevelopment of Mary Arches car park are far from ideal-do we really need more co-living rooms when there is planning approval already for about 1000 rooms. We have objected to aspects of the design and hope for improved plans

The society has objected to the planning application for student accommodation at Clarendon House on Paris Street roundabout. The architecture is poor and the height in Heavitree Road dwarfs the terrace of listed buildings. Read more on our website

The civic society has objected to the latest proposals for an Energy Centre in the riverside valley park. Its in the wrong location and if ECC is minded to approve it, we recommend that it is positioned next to the new station. See our response

New plans for a district heating system based at Clapperbrook Lane and in the Valley park has resulted in a very large industrial building 19m high and 109m long. Do we really want this? The civic society is likely to object again to the latest plans.

The civic society is grateful to Eutopia Homes for their presentation and opportunity to discuss the redevelopment of Mary Arches carparks but disappointed to learn they plan co-living rooms rather than family homes. You can read our feedback to them here

The civic society has submitted an objection to the planning application for an Energy plant at Grace Road Field, alongside the canal. We believe this land should be reserved for future residents of the 1000s of homes to be built nearby.

We have questioned @ExeterCouncil handling of @ExeterCollege planning application to substitute their approved scheme for changing rooms to a simple classroom block. This is not legally acceptable, Its like asking for pears and being given apples, and sports clubs will suffer.

We have objected to @ExeterCollege application to vary their changing rooms planning approval at Exwick playingfields for classrooms because council planning policy prevents such proposals in a valley park, see our website

ECC has agreed to sell off part of the riverside valley park for an energy plant despite having a policy to preserve our green spaces. Once developed it will be lost forever. See our press release https://t.co/l0Qu3wtbcM . Should we fight to keep the land as public open space?

The Heavitree & Whipton LTN trial should continue for its full duration. That is what the we havesuggested in our letter to HATOC cllrs. We would like @DevonCC to suggest changes to mitigate concerns about the trial and for those with disabilities.

Great news to hear that Mallinsons Bridge will be replaced to re-establish a pedestrian and cycle route, especially as development at Water Lane area will generate 1K homes with little parking. This is an essential piece of infrastructure, well done @DevonCC and @ExeterCouncil

The society is part of a movement for Larkebear House to be listed by Historic England to protect it from possible demolition. The house is one of few 19c villas that still sits in its own grounds in the city with magnificent trees https://t.co/9vwlx4ISlf.

I am shocked to see how far this project has been secretly developed by the Labour led council without even informing let alone involving ward councillors or community. The structure set up, a council working group, for accountability had been ignored https://t.co/yWK0hNNQJ3

The Exeter Plan consultation has just finished and the society has submitted a robust response which we hope will result in policies that are clear, supports the intention of policy without ambiguity at planning application stage. Read our response here

So pleased for dry weather at our unveiling of a blue plaque last Friday to the internationally known author George Gissing who spent time in Exeter in the 19th century and for prof. Richard Dennis unveiling it and giving his talk to the DEI on the 7th.
