BKC Faculty Associates @evelyndouek and @EthanZ analyze the Supreme Court’s TikTok ban ruling. They warn it sets a precedent that reshapes free speech and platform governance. Listen here » https://t.co/sGqC04hppY

The TikTok ban decision passed down by the Supreme Court late last year is a clear violation of First Amendment precedent, but President Trump’s refusal to enact it as law is a constitutional crisis...

I'm super greatful to share that I'll be joining the Communication Dept at @Tulane (!!NOLA!!) as an Assistant Professor. I've been very lucky to receive amazing support- this isn't my individual work and I couldn't have done it alone.

Meta’s changes to content moderation are probably not designed to encourage healthy democratic debate. Instead, they seem like a strategy to curry favour with Trump and his nativist supporters, writes @EthanZ. https://t.co/j8YYj9IYEa

Meta is changing its rules about what constitutes ‘hateful conduct’ and terminating support for global fact-checking organisations. This may not end well

The simple answer, of course, is no - FB is going to start doing what's politically and economically expedient. In the US, it means submitting to Trump. In Vietnam, it means doing whatever is required to stay open. It's disgusting, but that's the way these companies work.

So Zuckerberg wants Facebook "to get back to our roots around free expression." Does that mean Meta will stop complying with censorship requests by the Vietnamese government?

“Because Trump never stops talking, it’s hard to think of him as a good listener” writes @EthanZ - but the very online president-elect understands what his supporters want:

Social media is full of disinformation. But the terminally online former president has paid attention to what his devoted followers want

Danielle Allen (@dsallentess) gave a tremendous and optimistic talk at @UMassAmherst today, on "How to be a Confident Pluralist": https://t.co/8TxzxgbPd0 It's helpful - and challenging - to hear her optimism on the power of engaging respectfully.
