Protip to anyone who's been looking for a job for months in this totally nuked economy: If the company actually calls you in for an interview, run like the wind, because it is an insane asylum. Better that you become a hobo and find a nice hobo spouse to ride trains with you.

I'm looking forward to it somewhat, but many (including me) thought Ridley Scott destroyed the whole canon by making the "space jockey" one of our "creators." The first sight of the space jockey in Alien is the most fucked-up scene in sci-fi history, fact not opinion. He blew it.
@esaeger Imo it does have a different feel but it is well done. There are many little details in the scenes. I have enjoyed it so far.

Well thank you. We've seen it a million times, a collision between a wide receiver and some coked-out free safety, that familiar soft but odd-sounding *CLACK* and then the elevator music. As a boy I watched Darryl Stingley get paralyzed. It's too violent now. Maybe always was.
@esaeger You've perfectly captured how modern sports media would sanitize tragedy with the same corporate polish they use to sell you beer and pickup trucks - because nothing says "respectful tribute" quite like elevator music over CPR. GM.

Well, differently abled kids need all the help they can get, I'd say, not that I know, but itm it's all academic because all the predatory Friedmanism is gonna kneecap all that crap. It's unbelievably what these assholes are doing now.
@esaeger Yea. There's this National Disability Scheme that fund those kids' so they can attend classes with "normal" kids. But, again, capitalists are milking the crap out of that scheme with little left for the actual child and family that rightwingers now want the scheme cut to save $$.

You ain't kidding. My biggest career regret was not demanding top f-cking dollar when I was software contracting, though I did work for some nice people. Career peaks end, so make the most of it and grab that fat stack while you can.
@esaeger When I started out I was quite loyal and hardworking, as I think we all did when we first work. Learn pretty quickly it's dumb to do that. Quite sad actually. But yea.

Yes, see link, and no I'm not vested in it at all. I was looking for something that'd stop my out-of-control gum disease 15 years ago and it stopped it. I still don't brush with anything else. Colgate or whatnot has a toothpaste with the same 3-4 oils now.

I'm DVRing the whole series and then I'll watch it. Please no spoilers, but I understand that the canon is screwed up now, like David didn't fly the Covenant to earth. Me no likey, but people do seem to like whatever they did with it.
@esaeger I said Alien like all the movies and they were even more puzzled and I was like have you never seen any of the movies? . They looked at me like I was crazy. They had no clue I might as well have been talking about some ancient tribe in Asia.

Ahem, I predict the NFL is finally gonna do it this year, someone's going to get unalived on TV. We live in a Squid Game anyway, so it'll be fitting when our bread and circus bullcrap goes next-level, some Ritalin-zooted linebacker nailing someone just right, thoughts n prayers.

I was always ahead of my time and now it's like the world has caught up with me. Black Sabbath was my favorite band and Alien was my favorite movie, and now people won't stfu about Sabbath and Alien. If everyone else starts nailing cops in the face with pies I'll really worry.

But whatever, if they were transparent, they could just do rah-rah bullshit about all those loser pols and no one could say boo about it. Really, jfc, will the Democrats ever strap 'em on under any circumstances? It's pathetic. The GOP doesn't just do memes, you know? Own it!.

Mind you, as annoyingly bougie as I find Krystal, she did get muzzled by MSNBC after she did a segment in which she begged Hillary not to run, and that was when she knew she had to do different stuff. She's not being disingenuous at all.

Here's her checkmate: If they're answering in any way, shape or form to the DNC, they are not, by definition, independent. Most people know they're watching a slanted broadcast. The problem comes from the fact that some watchers don't. It's gross. They should be transparent.
@esaeger @DerpsterFire1 42 minutes, urgh. Will do, Ball is tolerable. Found this via Politico: "As a nonprofit, Sixteen Thirty Fund is not required to disclose its donors, even though it spends significant sums on politics. But in addition to Omidyar’s self-disclosure. "

Nope, a bumblebee did get me once when I was a kid. Half his innards were attached to the stinger and it was still pulsating, pumping crap into me while I freaked out. I forget what I did to make him turn suicide-bomber, but it was unintentional. I didn't look for his corpse.
@esaeger They don't sting. I got stung by wasps twice. First time my father slapped some mud on the sting & it took the sting right out. Second time I put a baking soda and water paste on the sting for instant relief.

I wouldn't call it "dark money" that Brooklyn Dad and all those guys take. That implies a certain cheap-labor/anti-labor mindset, which doesn't describe the Democrats, or at least it didn't until the mid-1970s. No, those losers are dirty but are taking what I'd call "gray money.".
@esaeger @DerpsterFire1 I guess it merits a deep dive into the meaning of "dark money", something I always assumed has anonymous donors and happens during an election.

In basically every way, the founders of this country modeled it after ancient Rome. Doesn't that sound suuuper intelligent?.

I know, I'm not comparing evilness. The GOP has been an anti-labor terrorist-troll organization since the days of Compuserve. They had to be, though, because they didn't have the (perceived) high road, the Dems did.
@esaeger @DerpsterFire1 Compare to Tenet Media scandal: the donor was "a European business man" (false), paying participants $400,000 a month to post 4 videos a week. No proof Tenet told these people what to write but it required them to link to its anti-Ukraine posts.

Right, but we know Brooklyn Dad is/was on the payroll, there was a smoking gun there (I'm too swamped to look for a receipt). And no, I'm not saying the GOP didn't start it with the Young Republicans and such and turn it into an advanced science, that crap's in my first book.
@esaeger Pakman is filing a defamation lawsuit against Wired, imo an appropropriate action now that they refuse to edit the author's misleading claims. The broader debate over the funding from a handlful of billionaires via that 1630 org is worth studying, though the RW started this shit.
