Yesterday morning the court granted us freedom after the Prosecutor announced the state was withdrawing the case against us after we held a vigil in the wake of the killing of African-American, George Floyd. 1/10

This is the character of empire—past and present. And this is what we must confront if we are serious about liberation. #NoIllusions #KnowYourHistory #RiseResistReclaim #AfricanUnity #EndImperialism.

In just one day, over 45,000 Algerians were massacred. Let that sink in: while Europe declared liberty and victory, it met African freedom with genocide.

On May 8, 1945, the very day the world celebrated the end of World War II and the defeat of fascism, Algerians took to the streets to demand their independence from France. France responded not with dialogue, but with bombs and bullets.

Good morning Africa!🎈.This may seem heavy for a Monday morning but sometimes, clarity requires weight. We must understand fully what we are up against, so we carry no illusions about the systems we confront.

Agya Anim’s plantain is more than food, it is proof that dignity is still possible in our work, if only we choose it.

Yet too often, work becomes the place where we display the worst versions of ourselves, where we cheat, steal, and cut corners. Just last week, we were all disgusted by stories of shop attendants at filling stations. But before we point fingers, are we all clean?.

Work is supposed to be dignity. It is meant to provide food, shelter, education, and freedom of mind.

He told me, “I grow plantain, cassava, coco yam, pineapples and yam for now. As millions of us rise to begin another week of labour, I want us to reflect: what does our work truly mean?.

This morning, Nana Agya AnimBoateng sent me a picture of the plantain he just harvested from his farm. Two years ago, when he lost his job, he told me he was going into farming. Today, his two-acre farm is not only feeding him but feeding his hope and he is planning to expand.

They stared at me with faces so tight you could crack granite on them. Coincidence? No. This script has toured every region in Ghana. Which leaves me with a bigger question: Is this just a few bad apples or is there something in us, as a people, that we quietly refuse to admit?.

The first attendant overquoted a coin cell battery until I asked for a receipt; magically, the price dropped. Embarrassed, she called her colleague to handle my next purchase. Same trick.Same “miracle” price correction. When I finally stepped out, I looked back through the glass.

When automated payment machines arrived, I thought, “Finally, peace!” I was wrong. Some attendants now read out a price higher than the one on the printed receipt, banking on the fact you won’t ask for it, or won’t read it if you do. Others declare the machine “out of order” ….

But some of them are bold. That’s when they pull “Script Two”: pretending there’s no change. That’s my cue to turn the transaction into a theatre performance. I will smile, return the items, and demand my money like it’s the last cash on earth.

Then comes the slow-motion audit of each item. And voilà, an “error” is discovered. Strangely, these errors are never in my favour. It’s as if gravity itself pulls every calculation towards their pockets. Here, my entire soul unites against giving any tip. I collect every pesewa.

I have this habit. As I shop, I tally up the prices in my head, so by the time I reach the counter, I already know my total. But almost without fail, “the mistake” happens. The total is mysteriously higher than it should be.
