This book is wildly overrated for UI designers. The dirty secret of grid systems: they look best on book covers. But on responsive websites with dynamic content, they're not as useful as they're cracked up to be. Always align, use grids when necessary 🔥

I just noticed the @Baymard site (*excellent* UX analysis) uses non-standard weights of Figtree. Playing with variable fonts (especially live, in the browser) is such a great way to find the sweet spot for your brand – and make a font appear a little fresher. 👨🍳👌

Love Rafal's advice here. Money is fungible, clients largely can spend more/less depending on the perceived value they see in different options.
One big lesson from selling design: always give clients 3 price options. I used to trust their stated budget, but often misjudged how much they were willing to spend when I showed greater value for a greater investment. Almost every client can spend more than their budget.

The best exercise for leveling up your design skills. I will never tire of saying it. (But I might replace "popular" w/ "good" below, close enough 🤷♂️)
Study popular designers' work. Every single bit. The spacing, shadows, fonts, etc. The choices they've made. Ask yourself why they made those choices. Ask yourself what you would have done in similar situations—without bias. Doing this will put you in the top 10%.
