So proud of our EDC Soloists who performed today! It was a great day of music making because of the students' hard work, practice, and musicianship. Couldn't ask for better people to represent GFC! #MakingMusic #undefeated #OnwardCentral

Based on this ruling we will likely see a minority majority district created that puts the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa & Spirit Lake Nation in the same leg district. This was proposed to the Redistricting Cmte in 2021 which I moved to be adopted. It was rejected by the Cmte.
The Spirit Lake Nation and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians have won their Voting Rights Act case against North Dakota. Federal Court orders ND Districts 9 and 15 redrawn by 12/22/23. #NativeVote cc: @NDNrights @CampaignLegal @RobinsKaplan

In ND, @GovDougBurgum signed into law a bill that banned teaching anything "relating to" CRT in K-12 public schools--one could argue the ambiguity of that phrase is a feature, not a bug, of the statute.
The precise reason why school book banning laws are vague: to force educators to question every move; to intimidate them into compliance.

Excited to share my new digital history project, an interactive GIS map of cases under the 1850 Fugitive Slave Act. It accompanies my June 2023 @JournAmHist article. Thanks to @processhistory for the chance to share how I created my dataset and map!
Check out @cooperwingert's new piece, "Mapping the 1850 Fugitive Slave Act." Reflecting on his June 2023 article in the JAH, Wingert shows how digital history projects can add value to scholarship while also making that scholarship more accessible. https://t.co/4kJyZ7jXYZ.

Information wants to be free, and bad news travels faster than good. It's my sad duty to report that History News Network no longer has sufficient funding to maintain its operations as an active project of the History Department at George Washington University.
