For everyone making rainbow treats for Pride, mix the colors in this order and you don't have to wash the bowl in between: Yellow Orange Red Green Blue Purple

There's nothing like having a toddler to teach you that you don't know jack about animals.

I wish Instacart was a little more transparent with how much it adds to the price of each item so I knew exactly how much I was paying because I don't want to go to Costco on a weekend.

I don't know why parents complain about reading the same book. I love it. Book is memorized, performance decisions have been made, 100% on auto pilot. Sure kid, let's read Daniel Tiger bath time for the 100th night in a row. It's a beautiful night in the neighborhood.

It is very weird to me that the new baby coos and babbles. Every time she makes a noise I assume she's about to start crying because that's how my oldest was. But no, this baby just likes to hang out and talk.

Newborn babies will often stop crying when you bounce them up and down. One theory is that there is so much sensory input that they just forget to cry. So it serves as a reset. And that's why I bounce my newborn while chanting "etch-a-sketch brain, etch-a-sketch brain".

Life with a two year old is a series of jingles from Daniel Tiger. 🎶Think about what you're gonna do, and choose ethe clothes that are right for you🎶

And I know I just have aggressive let down and it calms down after the first minute or so, but it's still funny.

They say it's difficult to overfeed directly breastfed infants because they have to work for the milk, unlike with bottles. I think about that a lot as I watch my boob spray my child in the face.

Lye based soap will break down the polymerized oil that forms the coating. Dawn dishwashing liquid isn't going to hurt it. You'd have to put a lot of effort into finding a soap that would hurt your cast iron.
Myth: You can't use soap. Actually, You can use mild dish soap to clean cast iron. The seasoning on our cast iron is fairly resilient and can withstand a little bit of soap, water, and a good scrub.

- Your child will pee and poop on the changing table. A wipeable changing pad with an absorbent liner is ideal. I line my changing pad with prefold cotton diapers and just wash a load of them on hot every few days.

- sleep when the baby sleeps applies to bedtime more than naps. The first stretch of sleep for the night is often the longest and this continues to be true for the first year+ To maximize consecutive hours of sleep you now go to bed when the baby does, and that's early evening.

- Most newborns start nocturnal. It's very exciting when they are actually awake, but if you are excited and interactive at 3am when they actually want to be awake, they'll keep waking up at 3am. Keep it bright and loud during the day, dark and sleepy at night.

- some babies are harder than others. If you're having a harder time than others with newborns, it may just be your baby. - if someone says their baby sleept through the night starting at 2 weeks old their baby is a unicorn and all their sleep advice is garbage.

- baby is going to be sleepy the first 24 hours or so, then cluster feed all night in the second night. Nap when you can the first 24 hours and just plan to be awake most of 10pm-6am on night two. Take shifts with your partner if you're baby won't be put down at all.
