Don't let Act 2 intimidate you. Break it up into smaller pieces. Make these choices in your screenwriting: - What's the dramatic question out of Act 1? - When does the protagonist stop exploring this new world and pivot to a specific attempt to solve their problem? - What's

This section of @franklinleonard’s essay is something I see every single day in my query emails, in contests, in film school scripts and, honestly, here on Twitter. Worth reading and considering.

Being able to actually see what’s happening in dark or low-light scenes used to matter. Shadows had shape, blacks had detail, and night photography still communicated space. Too often now, darkness just becomes information loss.

The solar system doesn't just spin in a flat circle. Your science textbooks really failed to mention that we are basically traveling in a massive DNA strand across the universe. Visualizing it like this is absolutely wild. 🧬🚀 https://t.co/LQ839iLY4E

The logline is a promise of what you’ll deliver in your screenplay. You do this through the concept, which should promise all the great scenes filled with thrills, love, laughs, or drama. If it's just plot, no one cares. Who, what, where, and why is simply not enough for a

The audience needs to see the characters try to solve their problem logically first. How would this character normally react? With their skills and their shortcomings. They won't believe the more extreme choices later in the story if the other options aren't exhausted first.

There's a major disconnect between what writers think are original ideas & what execs/reps/producers/consultants think are original ideas... why?? Because writers can only judge by what gets made. So, it's easy to say "There's never been a movie like this!" And THINK that their
