He misses being able to smell the sea, and feel the salt stick to his skin as the water dried on a hot summer day. He misses dreaming. He misses sneezing, and coughing, and fucking /laughing/. I love hal very dearly...

I definitely interpret the dynamic between hal and dirk very particularly envious and resentful on hals end because of the fact hes a copy of dirk's brain. He has the memories of human sensations, but he cant experience them anymore... he misses hunger pangs. He misses illness.
