like I genuinely don't know how you can view his statement as negative or contradictory unless you're just looking for a reason to be cynical. like isn't wanting more out of jobs what people want? More uniqueness? Adding to whats there rather than removing?.

perhaps unsurprisingly, people are ripping the "nothing is going to change" part out and getting mad about it. the full context is yeah they're not entirely changing how the game works, they're adding onto it. which is like, good when they've been stripping away.

I'm enjoying the arc of interviewers attempting to tease out details of what they have planned for jobs in 8.0

its almost like they have something to say and are at least mildly above mcu tier action figures bashing together stories.

Final Fantasy in general never really has the heroes actually like overthrow the big evil empire. or evil corporation in FF7's case. they're always destroyed by their own machinations.
@envinyon It’s also similar to what happens to the Empire in FFVI. The empire isn’t destroyed by the heroes, they fucked with the Espers who then crushed there capital leaving the leadership to mad dash to the floating continent. Imperialism often destroys itself, that’s the point.

its such a fitting end for the empire of Garlemald. the emperor isn't even give the dignity of an on screen death and his body was defiled, everyone that propped up the empire died horrifically. no glory, no epic battle, you couldn't have a better ending for them imo.
@envinyon It’s disappointing from the perspective of a player who wants a big climactic battle but it makes perfect sense if you look at empires in real life. Internal backstabbing and civil wars are usually what causes their downfall, especially after the emperor dies for whatever reason.

seeing people basically argue that each expansion should've had a new ascian villain of the week is insane to me. rather than actually tell a story that progresses in a meaningful direction, just excuse plots for content.

its crazy how many people don't get the point of garlemald in endwalker . "there was no big epic battle!". yeah that's the point, they were rotten from the inside and the people holding up the empire died a miserable death while its people are then left to suffer in the wake.

mech ops but you got combat jobs fending off enemies, crafters can build like defensive structures, etc.

I feel like you can kinda take occult crescent and cosmic exploration and kinda smash them together. have one big piece of endgame content that's for both combat and crafting/gathering. have a bit more interplay between the two.

this was the inevitable outcome of the wholesome vibes only crowd, frankly.

I love Diablo and Diablo type games but my ass is done the moment credits roll. You could not pay me to engage in what those games try to pass for an "endgame". Turning that genre into a live service nightmare was a mistake.

lots of folks want FFXIV to have like more gear stuff and pointing to Diablo-likes are a popular thing. and I just think of how those games just instantly stop being fun the moment you have to actually care about your gear.

I feel like its Not Good that some of the bigger content creators in FFXIV are a breeding ground for right wing shit if not directly peddling that shit themselves.

Its kinda funny how because this relic step is tied specifically to roulettes, it won't ever get easier. I actually really like that and it avoids the issue of people just spamming the one duty that's "optimal".

They've made a lot of the gathering missions far more reasonable, but why are the aetheric reduction missions still just a complete dice roll whether or not you can get gold rank.

as someone that's actually in sargatanas and goes through limsa regularly to get to GC/inn, I can 100% say this pic was taken nowhere near peak hours. if anything there's more people now than usual thanks to the relic.
Anyone else remember when Arthars wasn’t an account that thrived on negativity. Bro took a picture of an Aether server where most players are NA which means this is early morning on a Tuesday morning to try and spin a narrative that Limsa died with no mare

related to this, but they should've updated TBN's animation to have a "shield break" sound like reaper's shield does. defensive cooldowns need visual feedback too and its crazy that arcane crest and tengentsu are like the only ones that do.
something that doesn't get talked about in FFXIV enough is how buttons feel to press. like kaiten was a good ass button, the anticipating before the big hit of your midare was awesome. Like forget anything about job complexity or decision making whatever, it just felt good.

What if a reason for that is "making really complicated mechanics is fucking hard and we could justify making things less complex and potentially even make more content more easily if we offloaded that complexity onto jobs".

A lot of folks defend some Stormblood EX trials being really easy as like "well jobs were harder back then so some of the difficulty came from just optimizing your job". They've said they want to make jobs more interesting again.
